The Municipal Court prides itself on the administration of Quality Service, Fairness, and Integrity. Practice and procedures of the municipal court are governed by the New Jersey Court Rules. Franklin Township Municipal Court is one of 537 municipal courts in the state of New Jersey. The Court’s main function is to accept complaints for filing, including criminal, local ordinance and traffic violations. A municipal court generally hears cases only from the city or community in which it is located. These complaints may be filed by Divisions of Law Enforcement, Municipal Officials, Officers of State and County Agencies, and Citizens. Some criminal charges, due to seriousness of the charge, may be referred to the Superior Court to be heard. If you intend to file a complaint please complete a certification in support of probable cause form along with a complaint information form or a confidential domestic violence complaint information form and file the forms with the court.
