A remedial investigation (RI) was implemented on June 3,1999 but delineation was not completed.

Soil is contaminated with xylenes above applicable standards. Ground water contamination includes benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes, chlorinated solvents and lead. However, sampling parameters were incomplete.

This owner of the site is out of compliance and the case will be referred for enforcement action.

August 31, 2007 - NJDEP issues Notice of Deficiency to Walt’s Grocery identifying 22 deficiencies. Notice of Deficiency on file at the Franklin Twp. clerks office.

The NJDEP has issued letters to Walt’s Grocery July 7, 1999, January 28, 2000, and July 20, 2000, pursuant to the Underground Storage Tank (UST Rule) regulations at N.J.A.C. 7:14B and the Technical Requirements for Site Remediation at N.J.A.C. 7:26E. Submittal of the information requested from Walt’s was required by September 20, 2000. To date, the NJDEP HAS NOT received any further submittals.

NJDEP requires Walt’s Grocery to complete the remedial investigation requirements specified in items 1-22. Submittals required by November 30, 2007.
